The headlines scream economic turmoil. Employers large and small balk at adding jobs in fear of a "double dip" recession. Government stimulus has largely failed to help the 5 million small businesses that account for more than 40 percent of the American economy.
It's time for a new way of doing business — a holistic approach that empowers business owners to be fully invested in their communities and attuned to their customers. Leading the way are W. Vito Montone and Kim Castle, co-creators of Intention Products LLC and the BrandU® line of digital curriculum products and leaders in the conscious business movement, "the pursuit of whole wealth."
Kim and Vito, who previously helped brand some of America's top firms, developed Intention Products and BrandU® to empower small business owners with the conscious business principles they have developed in their own companies. The BrandU® Business Profit System provides a three-stage process for entrepreneurs to create wealth and a business they love: developing a business model to turn an idea into a revenue stream; replicating that process through branding; and creating consistent sales through product development, marketing, distribution, visioning and messaging.
Their goal is to enhance and support people's lives via "triple bottom-line," also known as conscious business or conscious capitalism. With more than 25 years experience working with top brands, they developed these tools "to guide people to extreme clarity so they can have the power to control their destiny in business," Vito says.
"We're talking about building wealth, in a sense, whole wealth – something that you're deeply passionate about, you care about, that you want to do the rest of your life," says Vito, a creative powerhouse who has produced multimedia for Paramount, Disney and General Motors.
Conscious capitalism expands the traditional business model to take into account social and environmental as well as financial performance. This sustainable business approach is taking hold at the perfect moment as economic and environmental disasters push countless new entrepreneurs into the market.
It's not just a feel-good fad. The Conscious Capitalism Institute (CCI) has found that businesses that adopt this model outperform the S&P 500 long term. Vito, Kim and their companies have made $3 million and helped 10,000 customers since launching BrandU® in 2003.
Putting its money and resources in action, Intention Products has a grand strategy to help small businesses left behind by the government's stimulus efforts. The company will distribute $50 million in BrandU® products and services to 10,000 small businesses across the nation.
Kim and Vito have asked small businesses across the country to complete a short survey on how they believe the $50 Million Micro-Business Subsidy should be distributed. They envision targeting business incubation efforts to 10 cities considered most needy by survey participants but are open to all ideas.
They are also offering free Conscious Business Development Kits featuring digital materials developed by BrandU® at http://www.wholewealth.com. It's all part of their goal to change the course of business and equip entrepreneurs for the challenges of the new millennium.
"It's about connecting people back to their real power and clearing away the confusion of possibility to put them on the path to extreme clarity," Kim says.
